Ciao Lucia, created and designed by Lucy Akin launched in June 2017 for the girl, on eternal vacation. Made in Los Angeles and inspired by the French Riviera and the Amalfi Coast, the pieces have many vintage references – Victorian blouses, smocking, and waist-defining silhouettes. The fabrics are chosen with the body in mind - things that feel good on the skin and are great for throwing in your suitcase. Envision a girl at a beautiful seaside hotel in Europe, tanning by the water, taking long afternoon strolls, and having lengthy dinners with friends. The line is very nostalgic for designer Lucy Akin, as Italian graphic design became one of her passions – she collected vintage postcards from Italy and old liquor posters from Cointreau and Martini. "The Talented Mr. Ripley" was her favorite movie and she worked at an Italian restaurant on the water of San Francisco throughout her early adulthood. This love of Europe and travel brought her to college where she studied abroad multiple times – Cannes, Rome, Paris, and London. While studying in Rome, she received the nickname, Lucia. From there, Ciao Lucia was born.
